As part of the 2nd edition of the Conference on Economic and Monetary Sovereignty, African economists met in Dakar from Tuesday 25 to 28 October 2022 to advocate for strong grassroots initiatives for the development of third world states.

The development of third world states is today more than problematic in Africa, especially in Africa. Indeed, difficulties are accumulating, poverty is taking on worrying proportions, political instability leading to wars, very weak health systems, deficiencies in education, and a low level of research or almost non-existent in view of the issues of the moment and d& However, the high rate of corruption, capital flight, the growing informal economy, the outdated agrarian system, a low level of industrialization, a near absence in world trade, environmental challenges, etc. are among others the constraints to Africa's development.

Thus, looking at alternatives, development specialists focused the debate on the theme: “Facing the socio-ecological crisis: The The current status of disconnection and the issue of global reparations.” Demba Moussa Dembélé, president of the African Research and Cooperation to Support Endogenous Development (Arcade) and economist addressed the issue of “disconnection”, highlighting the Franco-Egyptian economist who was able to defy the Bretton Woods institutions, entitled: “Disconnecting from the global system”. According to the economist, “This thought is more than current in view of the continent's great delay in its development.” He clears up the equivocation, specifying that “disconnection does not at all mean autarky, much less withdrawal into oneself. But a real revolution in a self-centered strategy to lay the foundations for true development.”
