On December 19, 2022, the fourth and final session of the members of the Council of Ministers of the West African Economic and Monetary Union took place at the headquarters of the BCEAO in Dakar. This session was chaired by Sani YAYA, Minister of Economy and Finance of the Togolese Republic, President of the Council.

Several files have been presented by the UEMOA Commission and are on the agenda. These include the EU's draft 2023 budget and the multilateral surveillance report. Indeed, the Union's macroeconomic situation in 2022 was presented in a global context marked by a strong slowdown in economic growth, due to the combination of several factors, including the repercussions of the Russian-Ukrainian crisis, the rise in energy prices and the tightening of international financial conditions.

According to Sani YAYA, “economic activity remained dynamic within UEMOA in the third quarter of 2022, with GDP increasing by 5.7% over one year, the same growth rate recorded the previous quarter. This trend was driven by the increase in value added in all production sectors. On the demand side, final consumption and investments are half-urging sustained.”
