A ministerial technical committee was set up on December 29, 2023 in order to give a boost to Benino-Nigerian cooperation.

The Head of State established a ministerial technical committee responsible for the negotiation and development, jointly with the representatives appointed by the Federal Republic of Nigeria, of a free trade agreement between the Republic of Nigeria public of Benin and the Federal Republic of Nigeria. This committee is composed of the Minister of State, Minister of Economy and Finance, responsible for cooperation, Romuald Wadagni; the Minister of Justice and Legislation, Yvon Detchenou; and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Olushegun Adjadi

A draft timetable for the implementation of the Free Trade Agreement will be submitted for validation by the Heads of State of Benin and Nigeria. Trade exchanges between Benin and Nigeria will be brought to their highest levels with the Agreement currently being concluded. A list of 42 products (food, textiles, building materials) from Benin was allowed to enter Nigeria, the big neighbor to the east.
