Morocco and Senegal signed on Monday 26 January 2026, 17 agreements covering several areas, including industry, agriculture and maritime fisheries, and reaffirmed the need to strengthen their bilateral relationships. These agreements were reached on the sidelines of the 15th session of the Moroccan-Senegalese Joint Commission, which is being held in Rabat on the 26th and January 27.

The various agreements were signed by ministers and administrative officials of Morocco and Senegal, in the presence of Head of the Moroccan government, Aziz Akhannouch, and the Prime Minister Senegalese, Ousmane Sonko. According to the Moroccan authorities, these new agreements reflect the joint desire of Dakar and Rabat to strengthen their bilateral partnership. According to the Moroccan official in charge of the presentation of the 17 agreements, “these signatures cover various areas such as taxation, public finances, the environment, energy, the digital economy, industrial development, port infrastructures, agriculture, transport, youth and health security”.

The two countries also signed two memorandums agreements relating to the development of small and medium-sized enterprises and strengthening industrial infrastructures.

Other memoranda deal with implementation of a consular consultation mechanism and on cooperation in the field of youth.

In his speech at the meeting of the Joint Commission, Akhannouch underlined the importance of consolidating the relations between the two countries in various fields.

According to him, “this Commission reflects the desire of the Kingdom and Senegal to improve their relationships at multidimensional levels”, adding that “today's meeting is an opportunity to give new impetus to economic relationships and social.”
