An adviser to the President of the Democratic Republic of Congo has been prosecuted for corruption and influence peddling. His trial began on Monday, November 14, before a court in Kinshasa.

The indictment of former special adviser to President Felix Tshisekedi mentioned that the defendant is being prosecuted for “passive bribery”, “peddling influence” and “offending the head of state.” Indeed, at the first hearing before the Kinshasa-Gombe Peace Court, Tshimanga, assisted by eight lawyers, appeared for a case that broke out in September.

Thus, an investigation was carried out, based on hidden camera recordings showing conversations between Tshimanga and two mysterious “investors” in the mining sector. At the end of the proceedings, the case was put under deliberation while the court expected to issue its decision within 10 days.
