Find all the economic and financial information on our Orishas Direct application to download on Play StoreThe Ivorian government aims to increase the contribution of the Tourism and Leisure sector to GDP to 10% in 2025 against 7.3% in 2019 and 1.8% in 2021 due to Covid-19.
To revitalize this sector strongly impacted by Covid-19, imminent and short-term projects, the cumulative amount of which amounts to 500 billion FCFA, are planned.
This is the "Tour de la Nation" project which provides for the construction of a five-star hotel with 225 rooms on the Plateau, the project to build the three Twin Towers on the site of the 'AIP, the rehabilitation and extension project of the Golf Hotel and the development project of a Resort of 1000 rooms on the Dalhia Fleur site with an area of 148 hectares.
There is also the cocody Bay tourist enhancement project, the rehabilitation project of the State's hotel heritage establishments as part of the CAN 2023 in Abidjan and in Yamoussoukro and the project to rehabilitate and upgrade ranhotel and build a Noom Hotel in Bouaké.
Other projects are planned in the medium term, namely the "KAMA hotels" in the secondary cities of the country, the "Smart City of BIAFRA" in Treichville, the " Serena Village" and "the walk of the world" in Marcory, the creation of 15 parks, spaces and integrated leisure centers, etc.
In terms of training quality human resources in the sector, in addition to the University of San Pedro which has a tourism track, the Higher School of Tourism and h Daoukro's ôtellerie will open soon. It is also planned the Institute of Tourism and Hospitality of Yamoussoukro which will have a sub-regional vocation and the creation of seven training centers.
The volume of public and private investment in the tourism sector in Côte d'Ivoire between 2014 and 2021 amounts to 817 billion FCFA, and 132,000 jobs have been created at the end of 2020 against 113,000 in 2016. Ultimately, the government will have to increase the number of international tourists to 5 million by 2025 from 2.07 million in 2019.
