At the end of the week, the Ivorian authorities launched work on the dry port of Ferkessédougo. The work will be carried out on an area of 732 hectares in the north of the country. Scheduled to be delivered in 2024, the dry port of Ferkessédougou will consist of an import and export terminal, a hydrocarbon depot, a livestock market and a slaughterhouse. And it will have to generate more than 71,000 direct jobs, according to its designers. With a total cost of 254.171 billion CFA francs (about 474 million USD), this project will be financed by the State of Côte d'Ivoire, through a loan obtained from Chinese banks and national banks, according to Kandia Camara, Minister of Foreign Affairs, african integration and the Diaspora.

Located 600 km from Abidjan, 600 km from Burkina Faso and 600 km from Mali, the project will not only highlight the regions of northern Côte d'Ivoire (Gontougo, Boukani, Tchologo, Poro, Denguélé), but also facilitate trade between Côte d'Ivoire and the countries of the hinterland.
