Rs 250 per maund is the estimated decline in cotton prices while cotton freight rates have doubled in Pakistan in a few months. Lint rates have risen from Rs 16,000 to Rs 17,000 per maund, and seed cotton prices have fallen over the past week. The New York Cotton Futures recorded a month-long drop of 58 cents per pound. Rising oil prices, expectations of a higher discount rate and heavy power load shedding were the main factors.
