Cyberattacks have become very recurrent and affect all sectors. At the end of the discussions at the Cyber Africa Forum 2022, three collective and transversal actions were proposed as part of the Abidjan Appeal. System actors have therefore thought about building a secure and attractive African digital ecosystem.

Many Africans bank, play, or communicate online. This could push the digital economy to reach $180 billion by Cyber Africa Forum 2022. At the same time, most of these lawsuits increase the risk of cyber attacks, whose annual cost was more than 3.5 billion dollars in 2021 (10% of GDP).

The first proposal will be to speed up training and raise awareness among users. By training more engineers and creating specialized “digital security” courses, the team of cyber security personnel will be strengthened.

The second proposal will be to place digital security at the heart of the organizational model. Dynamic ecosystems will be formed and in resonance, for mutual protection.

The third and final proposal is to establish a protective framework favourable to innovation and investment.
