On Monday, April 03, 2023, the former Director General of the Road Maintenance Fund (Fer), Souleymane Traoré was again at the stand, before the trial chamber of the Court for the Repression of Economic and Financial Crimes (CRIEF). He is being prosecuted for alleged acts of “embezzlement of public funds, money laundering and corruption”.

The acquisition of the head office of the Fond d'Entretien Routier (fer) in La Camayenne in the commune of Dixinn, worth 85 billion Guinean francs, was largely the subject of last Monday's hearing. This acquisition took place in an opaque manner and the accused allegedly embezzled funds on occasion according to the special prosecutor Aly Touré. The accused believes that it was the Board of Directors that examined and validated this acquisition. According to him, the documents were signed by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Fund, Mamadou Bobo Baldé, and there is a video and minutes of the meeting as proof.

Also, Souleymane Traoré must be able to justify amounts such as 10 billion 510 million 112 thousand 592 Guinean francs; 387 thousand 489 dollars and then 771 thousand 730 euros, compared to his legal income. Amounts that were found in his personal accounts and the two accounts he opened in the name of his children. The hearing was postponed to Thursday 20 April 2023 for the continuation of the debates.
