An audit of expenditure by the Ministry of National Defense revealed in 2020 that tens of billions of CFA francs had been diverted "via" overbilling, false invoices or undelivered orders. The government has spoken on the case and provides more details.

Following the audit of the expenditures of the Ministry of National Defense, the State Judicial Agency had launched a legal procedure. Last week, an order from the dean of the judges revealed that the State finally renounced to bring a civil action, following negotiations which enabled it to recover the sums embezzled. According to Tidjani Idrissa Abdoulkadri, government spokesperson, thanks to the recovery of funds, the civil part of the legal proceedings is completed. The government spokesperson recalls that the criminal proceedings are far from over.
