Private Storage Operators (OPS) in the Ziguinchor region have sold peanuts to the Société Nationale de Commercialization des Oleagineux du Senegal (Sonacos). They are demanding payment of their debt estimated at 2 billion CFA francs

Mamadou Barry, a member of the OPS collective, and his comrades threaten to block the peanut marketing campaign for lack of money. According to him, the operators have been in banks looking for money since the beginning of the campaign. According to the latter, they bought seeds that they brought to Sonacos, to be invoiced, but nothing has been paid so far. “We are tired and ask that Sonacos pay us what we owe to the banks for the 2023-2024 peanut campaign,” he said.
