The Mauritanian Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development and the Chinese Ambassador to this country, Li Baijun, signed in the Mauritanian capital a memorandum of understanding on the partial cancellation of the Mauritanian debt in the amount of more than 12 billion CFA francs.

China and Mauritania, represented by Abdessalam Ould Mohamed Salah and Li Baijun respectively, have agreed to cancel a portion of the Mauritanian government's debt owed to China in the total amount of about one hundred and forty-seven million (147,000,000) YUAN RMB, equivalent to seven hundred and sixty million (760,000,000 MRU).
