The Speaker of the House of Representatives, M. Tajuddeen Abbas, said that monitoring public debt is a democratic duty and moral responsibility of the legislative branch. “Our parliaments must ensure that every borrowing decision reflects the prudence, transparency and the collective interest of our citizens”, emphasized Mr Abbas.
