Supported by the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the government of President Paul Biya, the financing agreement, within the framework of the Agricultural Value Chain Development Project in Cameroon aims to contribute to creating shared wealth, jobs for young people, and strengthening food and nutritional security by strengthening the competitiveness of the oil palm, banana, plantain and pineapple sectors, of which Cameroon is one of main exporters in Central Africa.
Gabriel Mbairobe, Cameroonian Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, expressed his gratitude during the signing ceremony on September 8 in Yaoundé in these words: “I express my gratitude to the African Development Bank Group, which, like the Government of Cameroon, is convinced that agriculture is an important pillar in the structural transformation of our economy. We are very sensitive to this multifaceted support.”
As for Serge N'Guessan, managing director of the African Development Bank for Central Africa, on behalf of the African Development Bank, he promises to “ensure that this innovative fund has more resources, so that more farmers benefit and, above all, that rural development is a reality in Cameroon and in the Central African subregion.”
