At the end of their meeting held in Cotonou, the ministers responsible for the digital economy of the countries of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA) approved a regional program for the development of the digital economy.

The program is composed of four main areas: strengthening the governance of the digital economy sector, improving user access to digital services, increasing the supply of digital services, and finally promoting innovation and research.

According to Paul Koffi Koffi, UEMOA Commissioner for Enterprise, Mining, Energy and Digital Economy Development, this program, whose development was made possible thanks to the support of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), aims to contribute to increasing the use of services digital technologies in economic and social activities within the community.
