For the month of July, Senegal's foreign trade was marked by a trade deficit. The National Agency for Statistics and Demography (Ansd) noted that its trades are set at -292.0 billion FCFA compared to -371.3 billion FCFA in the previous month. An improvement of the deficit by 79.3 billion CFA francs.

In the latest issue of its monthly report “Statistical Benchmarks”, ANSD noted that the July deficit would be linked to the simultaneous drop recorded on exports (-30.1 billion FCFA) and imports (-109.4 billion FCFA). Indeed, the drop in exports was due to the fall in seafood (-16.0 billion FCFA), zirconium (-7.1 billion FCFA), petroleum products (-37.7 billion FCFA) and monetary gold (-13.1 billion FCFA). As for the decline in imports, it was due to the fall in cereal products (-30.2 billion CFA francs), transport equipment (-18.3 billion CFA francs) and machinery and motor appliances (-18.5 billion CFA francs).
