The subsidiary of the banking group Ecobank based in Lomé has announced last Wednesday 11 February that Ecobank Kenya has appointed Rebecca M. Mbithi Director General as of February 9, 2026, subject to approval of the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK).

Rebecca Mbithi succeeds Josephine Anan-Ankomah, who now holds the position of Regional Director for Central Africa, Eastern and Southern (CESA) within Ecobank, overseeing 17 markets, including the Kenya. She was a former managing director of Family Bank Limited, and has over 20 years of experience in financial services and others sectors. She has also served as a director of NCBA Kenya and as a vice president. of the Kenya Bankers Association.

According to the interim president of Ecobank Kenya, Yesse Oenga, the council is convinced of its capacity to strengthen performance and governance of the bank.
