On Wednesday 26 October 2022, a ceremony was held at the FAO premises in Abidjan with the aim of signing an agreement between FAO and the Ivorian Ministry of Animal Resources and fishery products.

The agreement between the two partners aims at the transition to a blue economy through reforms and investments highlighting the potential of ocean resources, coast& Grave; seas and inland waters. The project is based on the vision of emergence and the National Development Plan (PND, 2021-2025), which remains the compass for building tomorrow's Côte d'Ivoire.

In addition, the project should promote wealth creation and the emergence of jobs under conditions that reduce environmental degradation and risks. Sidi Touré, Minister of Animal Resources and Fisheries, welcomed the signing of this project, which will reduce the employment deficit and strengthen Côte d'Ivoire's economic capacities, particularly in terms of its maritime ecosystem.

“More pleased than the request for financial assistance submitted to the African Development Bank (ADB) through the Ministry of Planning and Development to benefit from a project preparation financing mechanism (PPF) for the Blue Economy Development Project in Côte d'Ivoire, has received a favorable opinion,” he said.
