The French band Maurel & Prom (M&P) Acknowledged its exit from Nigeria by selling its entire stake in sePlat Energy to Heirs Energies, a subsidiary of the Nigerian group Heirs Holdings , controlled by billionaire Tony Elumelu.

Founded by Nigerian billionaire Tony Elumelu, the French oil group Maurel & prom puts an end to fifteen years of continuous presence in the first economy from Africa and illustrates the ongoing recomposition of asset ownership tankers onshore in Nigeria. The transaction is valued at 423 million euros.

Signed on December 30, 2025, the agreement covers 120.4 millions of shares Seplat , or 20.07% of the capital. The payment scheme provides for an initial payment of 212 million euros, with the balance to be paid within a period of 30 days. It is an agreement secured by an irrevocable letter of credit, which also provides for a conditional price supplement of up to 8.5 million euros, depending on the evolution of the stock over the next six months. The transaction remains subject to customary regulatory approvals.
