The Cameroonian minister of Water and Energy, Gaston Eloundou Essomba, launched Official extension work for the solar power plants in Maroua and Guider September 15, 2025. This work will cost 38 million euros, or around 25 billion FCFA.

This extension project is supported by from the Norwegian company Scatec, which had already provided Cameroon with these two first high-capacity solar power plants, built in the northern part of the country. Thanks to this new investment, the capabilities of Production of the Maroua and Guider solar power plants will be increased of 35.8 megawatts peak (MWc) - unit of measurement of maximum power solar panels under ideal production conditions, Editor's note - currently to 64.4 MWc.
