Ghana signs $85 million funding agreements with Switzerland and ADB for the installation of 35 mini-grids and autonomous photovoltaic solar systems with capacity total of 67.5 MW.

The government announced the signing of $85.88 million financing agreements with the African Development Bank (ADB) and Switzerland, to support access to & high; electrical energy. This funding will help power 750 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), 400 schools, 200 health centers, and energy service systems in 100 communities in the Lake Volta region and northern Ghana.

More specifically, the Ghanaian government will contribute $16 million, the African Development Fund will contribute $27.39 million, and the Swiss government 14 millions of dollars. The ADB, for its part, obtained $28.49 million in concessional financing for this project.

Switzerland's contribution will also make it possible to upgrade the existing net billing program in Ghana and to deploy around 12,000 solar system units metered photovoltaics mounted on roofs for SMEs and households.
