The Kreditanstalt Für Wiederaufbau (KFW) has granted two loans to Côte d'Ivoire. This information was made public by the spokesperson of the Government, Amadou Coulibaly, during his press conference according to the Council of Ministers on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 in Abidjan-Plateau.

The loan granted to Côte d'Ivoire is subdivided as follows: 45 million Euros, or 29.518 billion FCFA, allocated to finance phase III of renewable energy and energy efficiency projects in Côte d'Ivoire; then 70 million Euros, or 45.916 billion FCFA, to help finance the program Renewable Energies and Energy Efficiency - Eastern Backbone.

According to Amadou Coulibaly, the funding will make it possible to intensify investments in the areas of renewable energies and energy efficiency, and to contribute significantly to the achievement of Nationally Determined Contributions (CDN).

For him, “this funding will be used, more specifically, to implement reforms agreed with technical and financial partners in the sector, to purchase supplies, to pay for specialized services for the construction of high-voltage transmission lines and the restructuring of distribution networks, in particular in localities of Adzope, Attakro, Daoukro and Sérébou”.
