The pan-African private higher education network Honoris United University announced in June 2020 the acquisition of 51% of the shares of Nile University, a Nigerian private university founded in Abuja in 2009 with more than 3,000 students. With this purchase, the network of seven academic institutions located from Morocco to South Africa, made its first breakthrough on the West African market. With an estimated amount of more than $ 20 million, the purchase of 51% of the shares of Nile University, gives greater credibility to Honoris United University, which before this acquisition had some 27,000 students. This network belongs to the British investment fund Actis, one of the world leaders in emerging markets, noted in 2018 for its takeover of the African assets of the Dubai investment fund Abraaj. Through the Honoris network, Actis aims to create a new generation of African executives and executives, certainly, but also compatible with the ambitions of transnationals, of continental origin or not.
