The National Anti-Corruption Network (REN-LAC) published, on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 in Ouagadougou, its 2021 report on the state of corruption in Burkina Faso. This document mentioned that the municipal police, customs and the national police are the top three in corruption rates for the period concerned in Burkina.

Corruption cases relate to urban traffic control (99.05% of cases), the payment of taxes (0.57%), and the preparation of documents (0.38% of cases). Thus, the municipal police comes in first place with a corruption rate of 73.50%. Customs is in second place in the 2021 ranking with 34.43% of corruption rates. At this level, corruption practices 100% concern the control operation at the level of fixed posts.

As far as the national police is concerned, it is the third with a rate of corruption, with a 28.73% corruption rate through identity checks and documents on roads, the establishment of the Burkinabe National Identity Card and other acts such as the legalization and administration of the judicial police.
