According to a press release from the group, the AfDB's financial package consists of a loan and is linked to sustainability in the amount of 1.7 billion South African Rand; an investment of 1 billion Rand in the first issue of Absa social bonds, which will be listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange; and a risk participation agreement (APR) facility for commercial financing in the amount of $150 million. This financing will allow Absa to continue developing its strategic business lending activities in the social and sustainable finance segment

It aims to support the increase in the supply of affordable long-term mortgage finance for women borrowers in South Africa.
