The 14th General Assembly of the Inter-African Federation of Consulting Insurers (FIAC) was launched this Monday, July 3, in Abidjan (Ivory Coast). On the occasion, the Federation of African National Insurance Companies (FANAF) did not hide its wish to strengthen cooperation with FIAC to build a winning interprofessional relationship and consolidate the culture of insurance among the populations

Around the theme “FIAC, 17 years later, balance and perspectives”, the meeting was the place for the president of FIAC, the Senegalese Cheikh Ba, to look back before declaring that after Covid-19, his organization continued its cooperation with the trusteeship, which is CIMA. Also adding that FIAC has strengthened cooperation with insurance partners by participating in FANAF events and has participated in capacity building in Gabon and Cameroon

Even though the insurance penetration rate in Africa has not yet exceeded 3%, FIAC claims 40% of the insurance market share. In Côte d'Ivoire, according to the trusteeship, the insurance brokerage sector is booming. As of June 30, 2023, it had 328 brokers compared to 127 in 2013, representing an increase in the number of players of 158% in ten years. However, the contribution of brokers in achieving market turnover is still low, 31% in 2021 compared to 28% in 2020.
