On Thursday, May 30, an organic agriculture fair was launched by the National Federation for Organic Agriculture (FENAB) in Thiès. This meeting aims to promote this cultural practice and help its actors improve their earnings.

The fair held from Thursday to last Saturday was based on the theme “promoting organic agriculture for food and nutrition security and adaptation to climate change”. It is part of the SPG project, financé by Swiss partners. According to the organizers, this event is an “instrument for promoting the potential of organic agriculture, the know-how of the actors” who are involved in it in Senegal. According to the head of FENAB, the fair allows producers and processors to market their products, actors to establish business relationships and consumers to learn about the Senegal organic label. This meeting of commercial exchanges and ideas also helps to promote an environment favorable to organic farming, to increase the incomes of actors in the sector, but also to advocate for the integration of this cultural practice without chemical fertilizers or pesticides into public policies
