Since November 28, 2022, actors in the cashew nut industry in Togo have been in a training workshop on advocacy, lobbying and leadership until December 2, 2022.

Organized by the Interprofessional Council for the Cashew Cashew Industry in Togo (CIFAT), this workshop received financial support from the National Fund for Vocational Apprenticeship, Training and Development (FNAPP). Those responsible for the five links in the cashew nut industry in Togo are present on the occasion. They are nurserymen, producers, processors, buyers, and exporters.

This workshop aims to strengthen the capacities of these leaders in advocacy, lobbying and leadership in order to increase their influence on decisions affecting the sector and the lives of its actors. The training during the few days of work is much more practical and participatory than theoretical and is subdivided into six modules. It will equip trainees with the strategies and tools necessary for negotiations and the influence of decisions in favor of the development of the cashew nut industry in Togo.

With regard to the interest of this training, the Chairman of the Board of Directors (PCA) of CIFAT, Mawuko Komlan Gozan, has notified that “the cashew nut industry is identified as a promising sector in Togo. That is why we have chosen to strengthen the capacities of those responsible for the five links to enable them to have the essential tools to work on the development of the sector.”
