On the occasion of the 3rd Finance en Commun Summit in Abidjan, an event “Joining Forces: Growing Impact in Africa & Beyond” was organized by FAIR and the GSG. This event was dedicated to finding concrete solutions in financing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and brought together experts and international leaders.

Throughout the retreat, experts from around the world stressed the urgent need to intensify efforts and collaborations to achieve development goals sustainable. Indeed, the focus has been on development finance institutions and public development banks that play a key role in attracting other investors, such as pension funds, to invest in the SDGs. Therefore, more than $35 billion could be released if 10% of the capital of pension funds in Africa were invested in support of the SDGs. During the event, a report was published to propose concrete levers, then, new collaborations were announced with the aim of increasing capital flows to the SDGs in Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire and Senegal.

Opening the event, Belmonde Dogo, Minister of Solidarity and the Fight against Poverty of Côte d'Ivoire reiterated the need to adopt a inclusive approach to impact finance.

To believe, “Achieving the SDGs requires the continued support of public and private sector actors. To this end, to mobilize capital and to lead inclusive and sustainable growth in Africa, a synergy of actions by all stakeholders will be needed in order to create an institutional framework for promoting this theme.
