George Agyekum Donkor, President of the BIDC indicated that “although the loan was taken out by the Government of Senegal, the project has regional implications, strengthening integration and boosting trade, as the road will cross Senegal to reach Mauritania”. The project is expected to reduce travel time to these major northern coastal cities by 60%, and reduce vehicle operating costs by 80%.
