adopted by the Ghanaian Parliament. It approves the public spending of 357.1
billion Ghanaian cedis (about 31 billion dollars) for the fiscal year
2026.
Approval of the Ghanaian finance bill makes
following six weeks of debate in both houses of Parliament on the draft
Budget presented by the Minister of Finance, Cassiel Ato Forson, on 13
November. During the discussions, Mr. Forson said that the government had
managed the economy prudently, ensuring strategic management of
debt without borrowing from the central bank. The Board of Directors of International Monetary Fund (FMI ) approved
Wednesday evening the fifth review of Ghana's reforms, paving the way for
immediate release of $385 million to support the recovery
economic of the country. For the Fund, “the results achieved by Ghana
as part of its reform program supported by the credit facility
expanded were generally satisfactory. The authorities have shown a
strong ownership of the program by decisively implementing
ambitious corrective measures after the political slip-ups of 2024”.
