Cairn Energy, known as Capricorn Energy, owes more than 25 billion FCFA to the Senegalese tax authorities following the cessation of its shares in the main Senegalese oil project. But this oil company is refusing to pay.

The tax authorities announced that the oil company that sold its shares in the Senegalese oil fields to Woodside in 2020 must pay them money. In fact, it owes them $28.2 million in registration fees (including interest and penalties) and $14.5 million in real estate capital gains tax (including interest

and penalties).

But Cairn states that it will continue to vigorously defend its position on this issue, including exercising its rights under the sales contract to participate in the defense of such a claim.
