In Niger, several projects are under way, including the modernization of the administration. The Niger 2.0 strategic plan, designed to democratize access to ICT in Niger, has been deployed since 2021. This week, the country announces that it is looking for partners.

Promoting access to connectivity for all is the concern of the Nigerian government, through the National Information Society Agency (ANSI), which is looking for partners to provide high-speed Internet in 1,000 schools and 300 health centers across the country. An international call for tenders has been issued for this purpose since Friday, July 7. It will be closed on August 22

.

The selected providers will be required to provide indoor and outdoor WIFI, a user management platform, a content management platform, energy, and a monitoring platform in 22 high schools, 268 secondary education complexes (CES), 401 general education colleges (CEG), and 309 primary schools across the eight regions of countries such as Agadez, Diffa, Dosso, Maradi, Niamey, Tahoua, Tillaberi

and Zinder.

The government's investment is part of the “Smart Villages” project, whose main objective is to increase access to mobile phone and broadband services in rural areas and to bring digital financial services to some underserved areas. It will also contribute to reducing the digital divide between urban and rural areas in Niger. In total, 2,111 villages have been identified that will benefit from the various advantages associated with the program, including connecting schools to the Internet. The Smart Villages project is funded to the tune of 100 million dollars by the World Bank.
