On 6 November, the African Development Bank lifted sanctions against Gabon two months after the coup.

Two months after the military coup in the country at the end of August last year, the AfDB decided to lift, on 6 October 2023, the financial sanctions imposed on Gabon. This decision came after several weeks of dialogue between the new Gabonese authorities resulting from the coup and AfDB officials. The financial institution has indeed indicated, in an internal memorandum, that Gabon is no longer subject to the financial restrictions decided in October 2023 after the non-repayment of loans. The country will once again be able to benefit from loans and grants from the AfDB to finance projects essential to its economic and social growth.
