This figure was announced by the Directorate in charge of economic statistics of the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
The import of rice recorded a 40% increase over the value of purchases recorded a year earlier. In detail, the authorities report that the volume of imports reached 716,000 tons, 24% more than a year earlier. Overall, between January and June, rice accounted for nearly 23% of food purchases. As a reminder, Côte d'Ivoire consumes about 2 million tons of rice per year.
