Students in training brilliantly supported their final thesis in master of economics on Saturday, February 13 on the campus of the University Institute of Abidjan (Iua).

The 8 of them made important recommendations for the development of banks and currencies in the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU). Created by Dr. Aka Kouamé in 2004, the University Institute of Abidjan (Iua) has just crossed the six thousand student mark on its various sites. She trains in the LMD system and counts among her teachers, Pr. Prao Yao Séraphin known for his columns in several Ivorian media outlets.
Of these eight students, supervised by Prof. Prao Yao Séraphin, seven opted for monetary, banking and financial issues. Only one supported in development economics. The first student, Diomandé Guié Hermann conducted his research on the theme: "The effect of banking regulation on interest margins in the WAEMU zone: the case of Ivorian banks".
He therefore strove to diagnose and analyze at several Ivorian banks how this increase in capital or equity has impacted economic activity. Using technical tests supported by research by many authors including economists Modigliani and others, Hermann Guié comes to the conclusion that too much regulation has rather a harmful effect on economic activity.
