La Tanzania Telecommunications Corporation (TTCL) will build over 1,400 towers of communication across Tanzania in order to strengthen network coverage national and to support the digital economy. The director general of the TTCL, Moremi Marwa, announced that the deployment will begin with 626 rounds during fiscal year 2025/2026, followed by 850 additional turns in 2026/2027.

The first, scheduled for fiscal year 2025/2026, will cover the construction of 626 towers with commissioning expected by June 2026. The second, for the 2026/2027 fiscal year, will add 774 turns in order to achieve the objectives fixed. These infrastructures will be directly linked to the National ICT Broadband. Backbone (NICTBB) to ensure reliable and high-speed access.

This project is part of as part of the national digital strategy and contributes to the Vision of Development 2050 that aims to build a technology-based economy information and communication. By expanding Internet coverage, the government wants to reduce the digital divide that affects rural communities, by giving them access to essential areas such as online education, digital health, financial services, and the electronic commerce.
