The Islamic Development Bank (IDB) has decided to increase its financing to 37 projects in 22 member countries by $1.44 billion. The announcement was made at a roundtable discussion organized by the Bank's Life and Livelihood Fund in cooperation with the Egyptian Ministry of Local Development on the sidelines of the annual meeting of the Islamic Development Bank Group.

The fund's financing has benefited millions of families in the health sector through the procurement of 438 million doses of vaccines. A total of $681 million was spent on health care, $557 million on agriculture and $204 million on basic infrastructure.

The fund's projects are divided among these countries: Morocco, Mauritania, Tajikistan, Pakistan, Uganda, Burkina Faso, Djibouti, Chad, Mali, Cameroon, Niger, Sierra Leone, Gambia, Benin, Ivory Coast, Guinea, Bangladesh, Senegal, Togo, Nigeria, and Indonesia. But the fund is considering expanding its activities to Afghanistan, Sudan, Somalia, Mozambique, Yemen, Uzbekistan, Comoros, Guinea Conakry, Guinea Bissau, Palestine and Kyrgyzstan.
