The headquarters of the General Directorate of Customs has welcomed in Ouagadougou on February 6, 2026, the celebration of the day International Customs (JID). This day served as a framework for the presentation of the balance of the activities of the customs administration under the past year.

“A customs that protects society through its vigilance and his commitment”, is the theme around which the JID focused, a Commemoration that brought together numerous customs officials, officials administrative and institutional partners. On this occasion, the Director General of Customs, Yves Kafando, highlighted the efforts granted by the institution to respond to multiple security challenges, economic and social problems that the country is facing.

According to the managing director, the year 2025 was marked by an increased presence of customs officials in the field, the strengthening strategic partnerships and the pursuit of sustainable investments, in accordance with the Strategic Plan 2022—2026 of the Directorate-General of customs. The agents, deployed throughout the national territory, have contributed to countering threats, dismantling criminal networks and maintaining the integrity of borders, while supporting the national economy. These efforts have resulted in results significant financial resources. For the year 2025, the customs administration has recorded a recovery rate of 98.23%, corresponding to 1 231 billion CFA francs mobilized, for an initial forecast of 1,253 billion CFA francs. A performance that the managing director described as an illustration the constant improvement of the institution's performance, in line with the orientations of the hierarchy.

Customs authorities aim, for the fiscal year 2026, a financial performance of 1,367 billion CFA francs. An objective ambitious, but considered realistic in view of the achievements made, of the strengthened coordination between services and gradual modernization procedures.
