The National Anti-Corruption Day was organized on Friday, December 9, in Libreville by the National Commission against Corruption and Illicit Enrichment (CNLCEI).

“The risks of corruption and illicit enrichment in the mining sector” is the theme of the National Day against Corruption and Illicit Enrichment. This day allowed the various sectoral administrations to highlight the elements of exposure to corruption, the mechanisms to combat this scourge and the bodies responsible for combating the phenomenon.

At the start of the work, the president of the National Commission to Combat Corruption and Illicit Enrichment (CNLCEI), Nestor Mbou indicated that “the exercise to which we invite our experts consists of identifying the different levels of authorization as well as the various legislative loopholes that could tempt our public officials, in order to present ourselves, if not to imagine the mechanisms likely to prevent the actors in the chain from taking action”.

According to him, this meeting should make it possible to track down, detect and effectively punish corrupt practices, a source of illicit enrichment in the mining sector. Thus, the CNLCEI intends to rely more on the tax administration, in contact with mining operators.
