Une banque implantée au Bénin a écopé d' une condamnation to several million CFA francs. A penalty pronounced by the Cotonou Commercial Court following a complaint from a bank customer

The customer went to court after advance repayments made by the bank on a loan granted to him. The latter is said to have taken out a loan of four million five hundred thousand francs from the bank. He suggested that the bank should instead deduct 40% and pay him the remaining amount, the remaining amount. But the bank opposed this proposal. Faced with the bank's refusal, the customer learns that he had to give in.

He estimates the net profit lost on his activities at nearly forty-five million CFA francs, and wants the Cotonou Commercial Court to order the bank to pay him this sum. He also asks the court to order the bank to pay him one hundred million CFA francs in damages
