Konexa won the USD 5,000 prize at the last panel of the Africa Energy Forum 2020 (https://www.Africa-Energy-Forum.com). The competition sparked team spirit and innovative ideas to make Africa's energy infrastructure more sophisticated, futuristic, SMART, sustainable and agile. The fundamental principle was to create a platform where current and potential asset owners could come up with innovative, realistic, practical and feasible ideas to project existing utilities into the future. Konexa's anonymous proposal was selected by the jury from among the many competitors because of its transformative value based on the five pillars of sustainable operation of public services, as defined by the African Development Bank. Konexa intends to own and operate on-grid and off-grid power installations across Africa. The company is pioneering an integrated utility model that promotes access to reliable energy based on efficient and disruptive technologies. Batchi Baldeh, Director of the Department for Power Systems Development at the AfDB, said: "In partnership with EnergyNet, the Bank is pleased to announce that the 2020 African Infrastructure design award has been awarded to Konexa, for its integrated and innovative distribution concession model." "The proposed model calls on financial institutions such as the African Development Bank to look to the future by developing financing facilities to meet the needs of these futuristic public services and by offering opportunities and opportunities. Access to affordable infrastructure finance, as well as mechanisms to address local and strong currency challenges." Pradeep Pursnani, CEO of Konexa added: "This award is an honor for us.
