In the aftermath of the lifting of the embargo imposed by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) against Mali, after the coup d'état of 18 August 2020, the Ivorian Minister of Economy and Finance, Adama Coulibaly, announces in a press release, the resumption of financial and economic transactions with this neighboring country.

"By a statement dated Monday, October 5, 2020, the Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) decided to lift the sanctions against Mali. In execution of this ECOWAS decision, the Minister of Economy and Finance informs all public financial administrations on the national territory, all banks and financial institutions in the national territory, all Management and Intermediation Companies (SGI) and Management Companies of Organizations of Collective Investment in Securities (SGO) on the national territory, any other financial institution and financial market player on the national territory, the resumption of all financial transactions and all economic and commercial flows between Côte d'Ivoire and Mali", the statement said.

"This press release cancels the one dated August 19, 2020," concludes the note dated October 07, 2020. The lifting of the embargo is justified, among other things, by the recent appointment of a civilian Prime Minister in Mali.
