Last week, the Beninese government signed four concession agreements with GreenYellow to develop solar power plants.

With a total capacity of 50 MW, the plants will be installed in Bohicon (15 MW), Parakou (15 MW), Djougou (10 MW) and Natitingou (10 MW). Planning work should begin shortly, under the direction of GreenYellow and its local partner Egnon Consulting. The tender for these solar projects is part of the Millennium Challenge Account Benin II program, which plans to improve the quantity and quality of electricity supply. This project therefore makes renewable energies a decisive factor in achieving the country's electrification objectives. It should be noted that the rate of access to electricity in Benin is 41.4% according to the World Bank.
