Bullish bets on the euro are too numerous, according to Societe Generale. "The market is still too 'long' on the euro," says Kit Juckes, currency strategist at SocGen. "Stakeholders anticipate that the Fed's key rates will remain at their current level for an (almost) infinite period of time and I don't see what [the Fed Chairman Jerome Powell could say who can further weaken the dollar," the strategist said on the eve of the Jackson Hole central bankers' symposium. The intermediary believes that the early start of the hurricane season in the United States could strengthen the dollar at the same time as the barrel of oil, and lead to a correction in the bond market. This configuration could also be a wake-up call for equity markets, according to the strategist.
