Dakar, Oct 7 (APS) – The Harmonized Consumer Price Index recorded an increase of 0.2% in September compared to the previous month, announced the National Agency for Statistics and Demography (ANSD).


This development is mainly the result of a 1.8% increase in the prices of communication services, 0.4% in those of food and non-alcoholic beverages as well as 0.6% in the costs of miscellaneous goods and services, reports the structure in its note analyzing the evolution of consumer prices.


In annual variation, consumer prices increased by 2.8%. The average annual inflation rate stood at +2.2%. The underlying, for its part, fell at a monthly rate of 0.1%, increasing by 1.4% in annual variation, underlines the document consulted by the APS.


The prices of local products rose by 0.4%, while those of imported products fell by 0.6% in September 2020 compared to the previous month, reports the ANSD.


It indicates that in annual variation, these prices increased by 3.6% and 1.0% respectively.
