Senegalese MPs adopted on Monday, August 25 2025, a bill authorizing the creation of the National Wrestling Office against corruption (OFNAC). This institution has the status of authority independent and with skills that do not take into account fraud and custody at sight.

The National Anti-Corruption Office will replace the National Office for Combating Fraud and Corruption, which shares the same acronym with him. Deputy Amadou Ba, member of the group Pastef-Les Patriotes (majority) said that “this law is important. The dissolved law was a constitutional coup. The law relating to OFNAC, voted under the old regime (when Macky Sall ruled the country), in 2024 wanted to amnesty financial crimes.”

For the chairman of the intercommission composed of The Committee on Laws and the Committee on Finance and Control National Assembly budget, Abdoulaye Tall, the brand new law will correct these irregularities and reduce the powers of the National Office of fight against corruption in the exercise of functions devolved to an authority independent administrative body, which will submit its files to the courts and tribunals.

The law passed on Monday at the same time gives Senegal new legal instruments enabling it to respond appropriately to expectations of citizens in terms of the fight against “corruption and similar practices”, according to the chairman of the intercommission.
