Golgolgolgol strengthens its legal arsenal against piracy. The country has changed its legislation to have the legal capacity to try pirates.

The European Union is rolling out a new anti-piracy programme in the Gulf of Guinea. A mission has been in Togo since then in this context. The EU programme comes at a time when there has been a decline in piracy on the Togolese coast. In addition to the provisions of the Penal Code, the country has a specific law against piracy. Togolese courts have a universal character to know acts of piracy, regardless of where in the world they took place. This progress was welcomed by Nicolás Berlanga Martínez, the European Union's Senior Coordinator for Maritime Security in the Gulf of Guinea.
