Togo, Ghana, Liberia, and Gambia are receiving $20 million in financial support from Canada (approximately 12 billion FCFA). This fund will allow the 4 countries in the subregion to strengthen the capacity of their national climate-related measurement, reporting and verification systems.

This financial package aims to facilitate the implementation of firm and effective policies and mitigation measures against climate challenges, through transparent information, accurate and comparable on the emission sources that such systems make it possible to obtain. It will be implemented through Nova Sphere, a Canadian not-for-profit company, which “will help countries monitor their progress in meeting their emission reduction targets under the Paris Agreement.
